BADESCHIFF WIEN

Vieanna, Austria

About the Bar

Head down to the Danube Canal for one of the more unusual tank bars around. On a graffiti-strewn towpath between Schwedenplatz and Urania, next to the boat that goes between Vienna and Bratislava, lies a permanently moored ship called Badeschiff Wien (‘pool boat Vienna’).

Story

Originally a German concept (there’s a Badeschiff Berlin), this boat bar was launched in 2006 and boasts a beautiful 28-metre outdoor swimming pool, a bowling alley in the hold, a sundeck and Les Tartares restaurant with two tanks under the bar.
Decked out in casual bohemian chic, where sun loungers mix with thrift-store furniture, this bar is a glorious place to enjoy the perfect beer on the perfect summer’s evening in one of Vienna’s coolest locations.
